Physical Description
Sebastian Morgenstern stands at roughly 5’7”, definitely on the tall side for an Anaxi Galdor. He has short, russet hair and bangs that often flop in front of his face, despite any effort to keep them out of the way. He has a fair complexion littered with thousands, if not millions of freckles, a trait he inherited from his father. His eyes are a hazel green, with flecks of yellow and brown, and often in search of something to fix or fiddle with. He is broad-chested for a golly, another manner in which he takes after his father, but his fine cheek bones and cleft chin are his mother’s.
He normally ends his day covered in some form of dirt or grease. Being lower on the totem pole where he works often means he is tasked with the worst jobs. He tends to dress rather simply on work days in clothes he doesn’t mind getting engine grease on. On days when he doesn’t work, he dresses well and scrubs up nicely.
Personality
Sebastian’s mother would describe him as a sweet boy. This tends to be true, as he is generally kind to most everyone he crosses paths with. He is easily distracted and doesn’t seem to have much of an attention span, except when he is focused on a puzzle or a job, and then it can be difficult to get him to pay attention to anything else. He is rarely still. He fidgets a lot, and almost always has his hands busy with something, whether it’s something he’s fixing or just something to play with. He likes puzzles of all sorts, though prefers ones with pieces he can handle to word puzzles or riddles. He is also fond of mysteries, and keeps a collection of detective novels and such. Aside from when he’s working or sleeping, one of the only other times he manages to keep still is when he is birdwatching. He finds birds fascinating and enjoys studying them.
Compared to most, Baz has a fairly high opinion of the lower races. He sees them as important pieces of the whole of society, and believes they should be treated better than they are. While he may not necessarily agree that they are equal to galdori, he doesn’t agree that they should be mistreated and kept downtrodden, considering how necessary they are in keeping things running smoothly. He believes things need to change before they get well and truly out of hand.
Backstory
Sebastian “Baz” Morgenstern was born in the spring of 2695. He is the eldest child of Professor Sampson Morgenstern, a professor of mechanical engineering at Brunnhold, and his wife Illiana, a Bastian lecturer on Perceptive Conversation. When he was small, his father instilled in him a great love of machines. He grew up around them and was fascinated by how so many little parts all worked together in harmony to accomplish a task. Every one of them was important, and every one had a job, from the smallest gear in a watch to the largest flywheel on an airship engine. His father was thrilled with the boy’s fascination, and did everything he could to encourage it. As a child, Baz was never at a want for scraps to play with and things to take apart or fix, and he would often accompany his father on trips to see the latest advancements in mechanical technologies.
This fascination continued well into his school years. His dorm was often littered with projects he was tinkering with. He performed well in his studies, though he sometimes had trouble paying attention in classes that were not more hands-on. When it came time for him to graduate, he came out top of his class in engineering. Some of his peers attributed this to his father being a teacher, which Baz was always quick to refute. Sam Morgenstern believed his children should make their own way in the world. While he was always supportive, he never gave them any special treatment, especially not academically. The one thing he did do, though, was set Baz up with a job in Old Rose Harbor, working for one of his acquaintances as an apprentice. Baz enjoys his work, and even enjoys living in Old Rose some of the time. He misses his family, though, especially his two younger sisters, Millicent and Georgianna.

Baz mostly wants to continue to learn and improve his skills, with the eventual goal of perhaps owning his own shop. He has lofty dreams of new and improved flying machines that don’t depend on an unstable gas and a specific collection of spells, but currently lacks the knowledge and skill to make those dreams a reality.
