The Gyre
City, Kingdom : Brunnhold, Anaxas
Description : Student & Community Centre
Owned By/Run By : University of Brunnhold
Description
NPCs List
The Gyre is a wide, spacious building built in the middle of a natural depression in the land. The building, built partially underground, is designed to be a spiral rising from the ground and reaching three stories high. The spiral and the circular motifs are meant to invoke the circular dials of clocks, and thus the passage of time, in homage to Alioe. Designed by the celebrated Hoxian architect Rhovian Edrickx, it uses a lot of magically toughened glass in its construction, and has been largely given over to the student community. It serves as the Student & Community Centre for the university.
The Dome
The underground areas include a spacious dome, commonly used as the indoor equivalent of the field of practical applications. However unlike the Lawn, unstructured duelling is forbidden. The floor is embedded with many differently sized, permanent circles of the most frequent types. These circles only need addition of a single tiled piece to be activated, thus making casting much more convenient. The dome has an attached library which loans out many of the standard spell components and constructs used in casting to students for Dome or Gyre work, as well as circle tiles for completing the embedded circles .
Tiered balconies circle the dome from above, making this the ideal place to also hold popular arcane competitions, as well as more mundane sports matches.
The Cells
These make up most of the rest of the interior of the Gyre. The Cells are a collection of rooms that are suitable for a host of activities, from study and practice sessions, to various activity clubs, to dancing spaces. The larger halls can be sectioned off into smaller places by dragging wooden screens across. The cells can be booked by individual students or registered clubs at the Student Affairs office on the ground floor.

NPCs List
Cyril Edgeguard
M/25/Galdor : Proctor of The Gyre
Originally hailing from Bastia, Cyril is markedly strong for a galdor. While still compact, he moves with the sort of confidence and grace that speaks of some serious unarmed combat training. His strongest focus is Perceptive and Clairvoyance, which serves him well in his role as proctor to all activities relating to the Gyre. Even though the gyre is managed by representatives drawn from the upper forms, Cyril's role provides them with staff oversight. His office is adjacent to the Student Affairs office. He's slow to anger but has been known to ban particularly rowdy students from the Gyre for upto a full semester.
