This story arch originated in the Kingdom of Gior, but there will also be discoveries made in the Kingdom of Anaxas. There may even be some exploration of the Western Territory, so hold onto your butts.
What began as an attempt to bring better archaeological exploration resources to Gioran researchers eager to access the Deep beneath Qrieth turned into a much bigger, much more dangerous discovery. An encounter with Hatchers, a strange rift in the ley fabric of the universe, and an unexpected rescue by a mythical beast far beneath the mountains of Gior have left Athrym and Nauleth political refugees who barely escaped with their lives back to Anaxas, smuggling with them precious research, horrifying experiences, and two members of the Da Huane family.
This player-led plot intersects with Tearing the Rift, but I didn't quite feel comfortable turning it into a Main Chapter Plot. Call this a Main Side Plot if you will.
@Nauleth Siordanti: A young professor at Brunnhold, physicist, Physical conversationalist, and overly curious researcher, Naul innocently followed Athrym to Gior with the idea that he would be bringing electricity and invention to the Giorans while teaching a few physical conversation classes on the side. He got more than he bargained for.
@Athrym Bruthgrave: Gioran Ambassador and skilled sorcerer who invited Naul into her life and into the Kingdom of Gior. While she believed the pair of them would bring something useful and fresh to her homeland, she was horrified by the political response and personal ramifications of their discoveries.
Kaelum Da Huane: Middle son of the ruling Da Huane family, Kaelum was a Professor of Physical Conversation in Gior. Reluctantly Naul's friend after their harrowing experiences during a second trip down into the Deep, Kaelum put his life on the line to help the Anaxi and Athrym escape Gior's political imprisonment. He is now a refugee along with his young passive sister, Leyenak, in Anaxas.
If you are interested in magical secrets and mad science, this is the story arc for you. I think I can work in just about anyone, though passives and galdori have a better opportunity.
