Physical
what lies on the surface
At first glance there is not much that distinguishes Gale from other humans; height slightly average for atypical female Anaxi yet considered on the shorter end for a male - the actual measured height would be at 5'9" when bothering to stand straight - , the form lean and balanced from a life of work. Thick, dirty blonde, hair is kept short along the sides, a mop of it blooming out from their crown and falling freely. There would be times where it would be swept back from their face and framing their features, but for the most part it is streaked with dust and dirt, blackened from long days working in a forge. With that, they would pass most people by – an indistinguishable shape and gender that would disappear into the crowd.

Those who looked closer though would pick out the light skin from behind the dirt, the small features and the look of calm they carried. Youthful, a slightly pointed chin paired with sea-green eyes that never rest too long – they are always moving flickering to and fro at the world around their. The form is still clearly difficult to tell, loose fitting clothing covers the bindings across their torso, a light weight scarf breaks up the slenderness of the neck with a coat bulking out the form and shoulders. Trousers are also the chosen option, tucked into high boots, far from glamourous in design, but more to protect from the elements of the forge. In short, it is a rag tag of rough leathers and various thicknesses of spun wool that make up their clothing.

The manner in which they presents themselves is far from helpful. Their trade is no secret; it is common to see them with a collection of simple tools at their waist for the times they is working outside the forge – a man’s job in the eyes of society. The lack of giving any true care for appearance, to be mostly dishevelled, results in an androgynous look. Even if they were to care, the results would still no doubt be the same. It is therefore common for them to be referred to as a “lad” to many an onlooker. Bare truth however would reveal the "boy" to instead be a "girl".

Closer still, the observer would spy the short nails; the rough palms covered in scratches, the few scars that pattered across their forearms, burns and cuts from using tools forming into pale lines. There are a few freckles too, dotted across the cheeks, thin lips that occasionally twitch. The hair, if it was dare cleaned, shows only the smallest of hints of the true lighter blonde that is masked beneath years of dirt. For them to speak would reveal a thick lilt, one that had a tendency to place emphasis on the front most vowels while the others would be low. The tone would be slow, deliberately so it would seem, every word carefully measured and weighed up. But to those they knew it would pick up, quick and snapping – leaving the unfamiliar lost to the conversation.

Gunner
An indistinct humanoid form covered in a heavy, worn out cloak that seemingly swallows the form beneath it. A heavy hood covers the head, with a blackened steel mask, featuring a smoothed surface and exaggerated cheekbones that covers the entirety of the face. Large sockets sit around the eyes, giving only a small glint of whom may beneath, a grill before the mouth allowing the words to come forth relatively unmuffled - but to primarily allow breathing. Sturdy gloves cover the hands, yet still allow the dexterity needed to modify and load firearms. Most importantly however, it is a disguise that protects the face of Gale; allowing a quick discard if in trouble or exchanging it completely with another to wear.

Personality
Only Skin Deep
Blunt is the first word that comes to mind when talking to Gale. The metalworker little time for mollycoddling and the delicacies of word play, not when there is work to be done. The second would be aloof; keeping people at an arm’s length is second nature to them. With both of these combined most would pass them off as insensitive, uncaring to the world around them. A partial truth, they has their focus solely on the cause of the Freedom Fighters, of equality and rights – it is harder to think on the smaller details when such a task lies ahead. More importantly however, was the reminder of the dangers of relationships; it was safer for everyone involved to not have any ties. There is less room for exploitation that way.

To those few who truly know them however would know that behind the witty, dry and sarcastic sense of humour, is a responsible and loyal individual - willing to support the community and people they have chosen. A strong sense of values and morals is what drives them, though these are privately known only to Gale. Those who go against those morals however, attempt to exert control over their routine or threaten the security of what is believed however will quickly find their ire. There is no empathy for those who cross them.

Despite their social issues, Gale is sharp of mind. Everything is a piece to be moved, studied, analysed and decided upon. Each moment has a systematic approach that is used to gain the most ideal response, every interaction a project that must be worked through in that moment and kept for a later date. Their mind is a storehouse of facts, details and information that they will recall at a moment's notice. Furthered by their want to defy the restrictions the Galdori pushes them to learn, to take everything available and mentally consume it; this human has taken to recalling the technicalities of the various mechanical pieces they work with, recalling how things were built and constructed with ease. Knowledge and their lust for it is their bane, but they will not let the shackles of society hold them back. They will manipulate and strike at those who let them, and know when to keep their head down. The human may not have a relationship with the Mona, but they still has an intellect and awareness that allows them to understand the environment around them, encapsulating it all in still frame moments.

Looking upon the world calmly, Gale has learned to not let their temper get the better of them. Self-discipline shapes their thoughts, a hardening that forces them to dutifully work upon the task at hand. Reserved, patient and determined, they are set upon meeting its obligations –no matter what stands in their way.

archtype: the warrior
Gale's primary driving archtype is known as "The Warrior".While perhaps not courageous as most would imagine, their mindset is set on being tough, setting out their goals to achieve, overcoming obstacles and a stubborn persistence during difficult times. It is simply the case of 'winning' whatever confronts them, including the poisonous whispers in their mind and the underlying fear of weakness. They look to bring meaning to what they do, choosing their battles wisely (and knowing when to restrain themselves), all while maintaining a level headed discipline. However on the flipside, Gale is also at risk of turning their wants into an exercise of personal gain without thoughts of morality, ethics or the good of the group; an active ideal in their life that rises up whenever they feel compelled to compromise their principles in order to 'win' or to take everything that happens as a slight, a threat, or a challenge to be confronted.

racial views
GaldoriAbsolute hatred. And hatred only. They are something that needs to be dealt with. Gale will only cooperate with them for as long as it benefits them.
PassivesGaldori specific passives are something to be suspicious of - after all who knows where their loyalties lie. Wick Passives are "odd".
WicksThey are “alright”. Largely odd. Better if they side with the Freedom Fighters.
HumansNo strong opinion. Some are good. Some are bad. Better if they side with the Freedom Fighters.

Backstory
where we come from
Gale's history begins with their father, Beckett Saunders. A human who quietly learned and grew, a man capable of intellect and design. His own history began with his father's trade of smithing and serving as a farrier; but his understanding out done the simplicities of working wrought iron. His youth was spent chasing dreams and ideas, making, tinkering, learning - with it a greater sense of understanding came. He grew to resent those who oppressed those below. His own fires grew hot, turning into hatred. The earliest mumbles of any revolution, of fighters of freedom started - for him at least - in his workshop long before Gale was born. The 'Dirty Dozen', as Gale would be told when growing up, were the genius few who dared to challenge the Galdori with innovation.

For years they worked, trying, testing, experimenting. Years disappeared, youth stripped from them until they discovered the answer.

The Pistol was the legacy they left.

It was also the nightmare of their existence.

With the secrets of gunpowder and firearms unlocked to them, the Dirty Dozen scattered and disappeared into society. In the case of Beckett he joined up with the juvenile Freedom Fighters, the various code names that reached his ears suggested the others had done similar. In some regards it returned the vigour of his youth, a romantic figure that looked to right the wrongs of the world. As a result he was sent to various sites on Anaxas, points of interest that caused the raising of curious eyebrows.

The most memorable however was to the Brayde County to the Valentin plantation; it was there that him and a fellow resistance member "Teeter" looked into the sudden layoff old and hiring of new staff. The pair joined up to the plantation, serving as general labourers and handymen that dealt with the various repairs that needed tending to. The excitement was attractive, and in time he found his own romance. Yelenn, a human woman some ten or more years his junior - neither of them cared. A whirlwind of colour and noise that gave him something more to fight for. Time went on he began to learn the truths of the plantation, of the Valentin heir the Galdori carefully raised. Of that the boy carried in him human blood, Yelenn's blood, despite the firm insistence of the owner Theodore. From what little he knew, it was far from a happy family unit. With the information gathered for the Freedom Fighters the two Cadets left the plantation, smuggling Yelenn out in the process. Their destination there after was Vienda, where for a while they settled.

Only when Gale was older, did they learn some of the truth, of what had to be left behind in the name of freedom - and it was something they tried to burn from their memory. He always spoke of her with a sad look in his eyes. His lip would ever quiver, and he would always warn them: "Beware the Valentin, beware the blonde Galdori."

It was on the 17th of Hamis that Gale was born after a long and strenuous labour. A difficult birth by all accounts, and one that resulted in the death of their mother. Their father, late in his years to be a parent, despaired on this and poured his focus into his work. He begrudged the birth of a daughter in some regards, a fatalist who saw events repeating themselves when they came of age. Yet in time, he grew out of his closed in shell and took hold of the opportunity before him - now was the time to at least change that chance.

Gale was raised as a son, not a daughter. To be strong, to stand their ground and be dominant in a society of men. It was the only way to survive, to have anything worth holding onto in a world where women for the most part were forced to be submissive. He educated them; first with literacy and mathematics, before entering into other topics of study. By their sixth year they began assisting him with metalwork; the seven with the construction of gunpowder; the eleven brought the art of gunsmithing.

It was their secret, to shape the tiniest pieces within the quiet hours of their workshop, to quietly fit and build

The indoctrination to ideals of the Rebellion also began at a young age. The ideals of the revolution became a life blood, a purpose that fuelled them. Every move became a small trial to further the goals and their ambition. To obtain equality in the world ruled by the Galdori - or to die gloriously trying. They was no fighter however, at least not to start with - their early teen years were spent largely dropping off missives and serving as a courier. They called them "Artful", and it became the name they always used when at work.

The language that came with their allegiance became second nature, long nights speaking in the slanged tones of Tek and the signs given with hands. It was the only way, after a while, that even only father and daughter would dare communicate when talking about their illegal practices.

Yet just as much as time flows do all things come to an end. It was old age that eventually claimed their father, he had managed to outlive the expectations of all, reaching well past his fifties. With the loss of him however, the eyes turned to them to produce the much needed equipment. They inherited name that was once their father's, "Gunner", though that was only ever used whenever a request came in - otherwise it was a title they sat upon. To tie the identity of both Artful and Gunner together was too risky, no doubt bringing with it unwanted attention.

With his death, his "son" Gale took over the business. The guise of a metal worker took over, the early morning spent warming up the smelter, making casts and pouring them out. Work moved to outside, the day to day activities of keeping safe constantly at the forefront of their mind. Gale after all was the humble metal worker who whiled away the days and kept a relative distance from the idea of anything romantic. The reputation of being a somewhat shy “boy” and a prude took the forefront - and it was perhaps for the best. They knew society was cruel to people like her.

But none of that mattered when there was a rebellion to build for.

Career
The half life
Gale works as a Metal smith: Using both blacksmithing and moulds, Gale produces a large collection of various metal objects for the clientele upon request – normally in the form of spare parts. Gale can however make bespoke items on request. Currently, the metal smith is the master smith of Saunders' Forge.

Secretly on the side and on request from the Rebellion, they makes firearms and gunpowder. The alias used for this is Gunner. Commonly the gunsmith only creates flintlock pistols without rifling, but has begun more experimental pieces of date.

Income: Poor. While Gale could earn more by focusing on being a metalsmith, the demands of the Freedom Fighters and the acquisition of certain materials is costly.

Tools of the Trade

Housing: Business and Housing

Gale lives above Saunders' Forge on the outskirts of the Soot District. The upstairs living accommodation of the forge, the wrought iron staircase would lead onto a landing wood panelled walls and flooring spread throughout the majority of this structure – with a small amount of loft space stored within the eaves. Following the L-shaped structure of the building, a small kitchen and eating space is what is first seen – various piping running across the wall and towards the left. Bare essentials, a set of chairs a single table and a smattering of other must haves stored in narrow cupboards. A lantern swings from the ceiling, casting it into a pleasant off glow. From the room there is two doors, one leading left and the other right.

The left door shows the conclusion of the pipes, plumbing into a spartan bathroom. A tin bath, a pump, a washbasin stand and toilet fill this space; the smith is able to heat a majority of their water through the day with aid of the furnace below. Taking the right door however leads to a small bedroom space. A three-quarter bed is pushed up into the far back corner, chest shoved up at the foot of it.

Throughout is sparsely decorated, with a focus on functionality. A few soft furnishings are scattered about, but they are normally in the form of rough wools and duller colours – they are easier on the mind by all accounts.

400sqft apartment above a forge, include one bed, two chairs, one table, two knives, a three piece dining set to serve four (cup, plate, bowl), one chest, and a stove/hearth. Any other items must be purchased. Depending on the city, this may be a tiny apartment, house, cubicle, or similar structure.

The landlord and property owner of Saunders' Forge is the Galdorir Leopold Aurelian (NPC).
