Physique

Cicero's Bastian heritage is always clear, even underneath all the pale plaster and darkness he smears around his eyes. He is actually quite tall at 6'3", an anomaly among his kind but a spectacle nonetheless. His form could best be described as lithe, though not quite lanky.

Big, hazel eyes only add to his odd appearance, commonly made to look bigger with the use of kohl lining and smudging depending on the day. He isn't afraid of the use of cosmetics and one look at the man will make that clear. Under the pale foundations spread across his face, Cicero is actually quite tan, having spent both his childhood as well as his current years mostly in the sun.

Atop his angular head is short, dark red hair, more commonly appearing black unless in natural light.

Unlike the majority of his kind, never being gated never allowed for the addition of a passive's mark onto his skin. This small fact is a blessing for Cicero, who often parades as a human in lieu of facing arrest and being gated in a foreign kingdom.

Diablerie:
Psionics can cause quite the disaster when uncontrolled and unforeseen. This diablerie causes all humanoid brains in a 10 foot radius to go temporarily haywire; the effects, however, can and have been permanent in certain targets. Cicero has experienced these effects firsthand, and as a result, still has occasional bouts of visions and other hallucinations, as well as permanent quirks.

Personality

The mime is an oddity in many ways beyond his tall and peculiar appearance. Although not unkind, Cicero is not a speaker; he is mute by choice save for when necessary on the job. He communicates as any proper mime should, through use of action and expression, although his choice of action can weird out the majority of those watching.

Before his diablerie reared its ugly head, Cicero was a lovely little boy named Gianni, with a greedy heart of gold but a charming disposition. The long-lasting effects from the disaster have left him a different person, perhaps unveiling what rested beneath the polished surface of his childhood; he suffers from occasional bouts of auditory and visual hallucinations and developed odd habits as a result.

Such habits include: a staring problem, an unwillingness to speak in fear of his voice being stolen from his throat, a fascination with mirrors (and breaking them), and a tendency to eat every piece of paper he sets his eyes on (especially if he's written on it). Physical effects are no stranger to him either; he has a twitch in his right arm and a permanent numbness in his tongue as a result of the unexpected psionic destruction in his brain. If one ever has the chance to hear him speak, Cicero's accent is half Bastian and half impediment, leaving him with an interesting, ever-recognizable voice.

Cicero isn't one that cares much for the state of the world or its inhabitants. He cares not for the struggles of humans or wicks or even his own kind; he doesn't care about the galdori and their superiority over him, he doesn't care about any of it unless it's shoved in his face and he's forced to care. He hasn't dealt with anyone on a personal enough level to care about their race or their convictions; it has always been Cicero on his own, in his mind.

Backstory

Gianni Venturi was born in the fashion capital of Bastia, but his relatives were far from fashion designers. The city of Sielan provided an architecturally and culturally beautiful place for the Venturi family to settle down generations ago; a family of architects, interior designers, and politicians. Gianni's father was a diplomat and his mother used her creative eye to design homes for Bastia's most wealthy, leaving their children with a warm home and ever-filled bellies.

Two children were born to his parents before himself, his brother Giancarlo and sister Donatella, both twelve years older than baby Gianni. His siblings cared for him from the start; he was the light that lit up their eyes and the fire in their young hearts that inspired them to do big, creative things with their lives. The older twins wanted to build their own empire that their baby sibling would one day join them in; Giancarlo went into architecture while Donatella focused on interior design like their mother, and named their joint business effort Gianni's Sielan, after their brother and their vision of designing homes and other buildings in their family's idea for the future.

Nine years after his birth, the mona spoke to the child for the first time in his life; he came of age with a sudden and disastrous Vortas morning. Rather than coming to him with the gentle, guiding hand he had expected of the mona, Gianni was greeted with an overwhelming sense of wrongness, there was no need for any university's test to know that he was passive when his diablerie showed itself immediately.

Everyone in the room was affected. While eating breakfast, his parents began to stab at their food with the wrong ends of their utensils; their mouths wide open and expecting food that never stuck. His sister mumbled nonsense; it was as if the young woman was speaking in tongues as she stood up, sat down, stood up, sat down, and continued on and on as if something on her seat pricked at her every time. His brother was an inconsolable mess, screaming at the top of his lungs about colors--yellow, yellow, green, yellow--and lapping at his drink like a dog. Gianni himself hardly noticed the insanity around him and could barely understand the extent of it, his own mind occupied with horrifying visions replacing the people before him: his parents' tongues fell straight out of their open mouths as Gianni unknowingly bit down on his own; his arms raised above his head in fear of his monstrous siblings sacrificing his limbs in some foreign-tongued ritual. The full scene still isn't clear in his mind; he has no idea if anything that he witnessed was the truth of the situation or if everyone's account differs entirely.

Gianni wasn't gated. His parents couldn't handle the hit to their reputation, and his siblings couldn't handle the knowledge of their baby brother being forced into servitude. Though they feared for what the child would face on his own, they sent him away, and Gianni has lived on the streets ever since. He learned to use his oddities to his advantage; performing wherever he could find a crowd and relying on their curiosity to make enough money to feed himself. He has traveled all over Bastia pretending to be a human, and has more recently come to Anaxas to see what the neighboring kingdom has to offer.

After his diablerie, he took to calling himself Cicero--the title of a painting his sister made for him when he was a child.

Career and Income

Musician

Apart from his odd jobs (miming, thieving, janitorial work), Cicero is a musician, although not a well-known one. Due to his status as a faux human, he only really finds musical work in lower class establishments, and his lack of vocals often leaves his audience unsatisfied.

Income: Average

Cicero makes very little from his performances, both as a musician and as a mime, but he still receives financial support from his family in Bastia.

Housing and Inventory

Housing: Nomadic

Never settling down in one place, Cicero hasn't lived in a permanent home since he was a child. When he is planning a heist he often is hired as a janitor in the mark's home, and in these situations he stays in a house, but more often than not Cicero can be found sleeping outside under ledges and wherever will take him.

Inventory

Cicero really just has some odds and ends. He keeps his autoharp, his cosmetics, and his costumes in a burlap sack and carries little else.
