Physical Description

Standing at just 5’2’’ Su’yina is neither short nor tall at least according to her. Compact for the most part, the girl has quite a lithe build due to how often she moves. Her hair, a mess of straight and waves, is reminiscent of that of the bark of an oak tree. Fluttering against sun-kissed skin dusted by dirt, she is very much one of nature’s children. A wild and free thing with eyes that reflect her every feeling; her eyes are a sparkling hazel. If she is jovial, they were warm, lively, and sparkled with mirth. If she is sad, they seem to grow dim. Every feeling she wears expressed explicitly through them and across her face. A face that is a mixture of her Bastian father and her Hessen mother. Su’yina can look quite youthful, with her wider eye and softer chin. The characteristic is accented by the single dimple on her right cheek whenever she grins.

It is because of this, that when she speaks the richer husky timbre of her voice creates a dissonance.

Depending on her mood, the style of Su’yina’s hair varies, though often then not, it could be seen pulled high up in a ponytail, secured with a scrap of fabric or ribbon if she is feeling particularly fancy. Life for her has been rough, and it shows on her hands and in the occasional limp she carries when she has ferried her goods a bit further than she expected. This is nothing a bit of cream and rest cannot fix! Not that she is particularly keen on spending her hard-earned money on such fanciful things seeing as her job will undo all the effort anyways.

Su’yina has two outfits she is commonly seen in both are very similar, only the length of the sleeves and the cut of the skirt varies in the season. She always carries a shawl, which she secures around her neck with a simple brass brooch. The sound of clicking metal can constantly be heard with every step she takes. Her only gift from her mother, the bubbly girl cherishes the hip belt she is given and is regularly never seen without it over the top of her pinafore. For the colder seasons, her boots are lined with light wool, for the warmer seasons a simple leather boot adorns her feet.

Personality

“Endurance with no fear is tenacity.”

✦ ADAPTABLE ・ EASY-GOING ・TENACIOUS ・ CLEVER ✦
✦ UNPREDICTABLE・RELENTLESS・CHEEKY ・ CURIOUS ✦

Su’yina is fierce in a way that reflects the life she has lived growing up. Loved by her father and cared for well, she has grown up to be a rather easy-going child. She takes the day as it comes. There is no meticulous schedule she adheres too, just the simple practice of doing what is needed to the best of her abilities and enjoying the extra time earned after. The easy-going mentality carries over to her other actions, making her rather adaptable to what life throws at her. That flexible attitude coupled with her quick-witted mind makes for some rather decent impromptu -albeit crazy- plans. Tenacious in a way that can only be described as almost mule-like and relentless, this petite tsat can be quite a handful to deal with. It is that part of her that some may have trouble adjusting too. Like a breeze, she can come in, create a mess, and leave.

That does not mean that she is a completely feral child, however. The manners she has she chooses to employ them as she pleases, this can make her seem rather blithe and rude at times. Generally, she is straightforward enough to get along with once she gets over her initial reservation and impressions of those around her. A sense of community is something quite pleasant to her and she knows the importance of it. There is safety in numbers and down to an instinctive level, she understands and tries to keep her social bubble as neat as possible.

While she is quite genial, not everyone will make it into her closest circle, the ones she would be willing to do anything for, whom happiness she would love to ensue if possible. Those that she trusts she would have confidence in wholeheartedly and those that break that trust are worthless in her eyes. She does not want to squander her feelings and time on those that would continue to hurt her. Time spent is not something that could be taken back after all. For those that manage to wriggle their way close to her heart would have a rather loyal life companion.

Her curiosity fuels her, to completely understand something is what she likes to seek! Due to her fascination, Su’yina can be very driven in her pursuit of any information, making her relentless in her pursuits. Often then not, this has landed her in more trouble than she likes.

Backstory

Eli’sae Paati and Hain Liae met on a spring day, and the story that followed them could be described by some as a childish mistake fueled by desire and greed. For the pair of lovers, it was ‘love’. One that gave comfort and happiness albeit short, and a love that gave a gift that only one half would keep.

A child; Su’yina.

The daughter of a union between a charming wick merchant from Bastia and a spritely galdor woman from Hesse, the child’s existence was not a welcomed one. Seen as a stain on the mother’s prestigious family, it was almost a miracle for her to be carried long enough to term. Yet it had happened and on a cold winter day in Hesse, a dark-haired child was born; a quiet affair in the back house of a galdori’s family dwelling. An hour later the newly born child with their skin still red and wrinkly was ferried away, dropped into the arms of her father. Su’yina’s birth marked the end of one tale and the beginning of another.

A few months later found the infant and her father back on his caravan heading home to Bastia; to what her father hoped was a better life, one that is far away from the susurrations that followed them. The family found themselves settled for the better part of the year in Bastia, flitting here and there within the country for work. Raising a child alone was no easy feat and so it was with the heart of a doting father that they moved to Anaxas.

It was in the village of Hullwen that Su’yina grew for the first few years of her life. The sleepy town had been deemed safe enough for her father, quiet and almost quaint.A decent starting point for ones trying to start anew. Life there was slow. Between manning the burgeoning spice stall, he managed to procure a decent living. With his work and duty of maintaining the dilapidated shack they called home; Hain did not have much time to pay attention to Su’yina and she was left mostly to her own devices. He was only one man struggling to do what was right for the child any blind man can see he adored.

It was his selfishness that had brought her into this world, and it would be without it, that she would be loved. For what little they had, Su’yina had wanted naught. She received enough in the moments he had to spare, sharing with her what knowledge he could.

The child grew into a curious one, who’s question was never answered though not for the lack of trying. Near such a large port, there was no way the child would not encounter a variety of people and that was how she spent most of her formative years, shoving her nose here and there, to satiate a voracious curiosity about everything around her and as she grew bored of the monotony of her life, Su’yina found herself moving once again. To a much louder place that suited her so much more. In Old Rose Harbor, Suyin and her father found themselves working with an elderly couple in a small spice shop. The meager savings they had accumulated was just enough to make do for the time being as they settled down into their new home. The duo in the end came to possess the shop as time claimed the elderly.

In this melting pot of a trade port, Su’yina bloomed. Unlike the sleepy town, at the harbor, she was able to meet more children her age, meet other wicks passing through and learn from them what they’re willing to impart. The tsat adored this new life of hers and all it had to offer. However, when she looked upon her father, the wick could not help but feel a different pull. She knew well enough who he remembers when he looked upon her. As she mirrors his eyes, her face echoes that of her mother. Through the years have passed, and her life becomes one that she wants, the whispering of longing could not be erased. To know, to understand, to see with her own eyes what had become or the woman that birthed her. There was an answer she wanted to find and with her own two feet, she would go towards it.

Career and Income

Occupation

Courier; Su'yina runs packages and letters for a variety of clients through the various locations in Anaxas for the past year. Before that, she has been helping her father with his craft. She finds her current job much more exciting. She hopes to one day expand her routes out of Anaxas; as long as there are things to be delivered, it will happen eventually.

Income: Average

While not rich and not quite poor. Su'yina and her father live a rather frugal lifestyle built on saving for the future and preparing for accidents that may or may not happen. Due to this, the family is decent in regards to finances. Most of Su'yina's income from her job as a courier is given to her father to save. She has no dire need for money except for her small indulgences which she is more than happy to cover with her own abilities; tea and sweets, bring her joy and therefore should be earnt.

Housing and Inventory

Shophouse

Living with her father above their small spice shop, the humble home boasts one bedroom and one bathroom. Life is tight, even for two, with the kitchen, living room, and extra spaces, littered with inventory for the store. Su'yina sleeps on a small cot crammed into what they consider their living room, opting for the open space as to not bother her father if her wandering and job take her home late at night.

Inventory

Found in a chest by the end of her cot is the following:
  • 3 Outfits: 1 for warmer weather, 1 for cooler weather, and one that can be considered 'fancy'; for the times she needs to look clean.
  • Mother's hip-belt.
  • Butter Mints
  • Hair ribbons
  • Dice
  • Old book for flower pressing

Goals

Su'yina's short term goal is simple, she would like to earn money, enjoy life, and explore the places her job affords her too.
Her long-term goal is to find out more about her mother and the circumstances around her birth.
