Physical Description

An image if you'd like one.

It is the freckled skin and shocking red hair that people first notice with Ignatius. Kept at a moderate length, waves flick and curl, stylized and swept back. A thin layer of equally red stubble graces his triangular jawline, trimmed and kept in shape as part of his morning routine. A thick, red brow is perched above a set of rose tinted glasses, thick eyelashes fluttering behind. To remove the tinted glasses would reveal a pair of rose quartz eyes, a soft pink that squints within the light and leaves the man with an element of discomfort.

It is due to his Giorian heritage that Ignatius Vinter stands above his Anaxi peers - a mighty five feet and seven inches, still lithe of form but carrying the broader shoulders and lean muscles. For those to look at him, would see a man who's clothes almost flows, looser trousers that are gathered together half way up the shins with the remainder being straight down to the ankles. An equally loose collarless shirt covers his toned frame, which in turn is covered by a waistcoat featuring a houndstooth pattern. It is not unusual to see him wearing a set of earrings or for his nails to be cleaned, presented and painted - normally in some dark burgundy. It is clear that he takes some pleasure in presenting and grooming himself, traits that other men may snob as being effeminate. The scent of coffee follows him, a smooth, chocolatey smell with something sweet that lingers just behind it. The corner of his sharp lips are turned, a slither of white teeth peaking out whenever he speaks. A thick accent, a strange hybrid between the rolling near monotone accent of the Giorians and the Bastian flourishes.

The many outfits of Ignatius Vinter:
  • Day to Day: Loose dark brown trousers that gather half way up the shins, polished brown ankle boots with laces, a collarless cotton shirt with buttons, bracers and a waistcoat. Colder weather brings in the addition of a coat.
  • Formal: A red double breasted tailcoat, a red and black waistcoat, black trousers, bracers, polished black brogues shoes, a white collared shirt and a bow tie. He has a set of thin, brass flamed pink tinted glasses to replace his usual, and he always shaves for such occasions.

Personality

An image if you'd like one.

Ignatius displays a quiet confidence in his form, normally displayed through the relaxed posture and the pulling curl of his lips. Even now as a man he is polite and friendly, ever giving a quick flick of a smile and treating all with the same base courtesy. Manners cost nothing, and to give them often granted the Galdor a proverbial foot in with many a social situation. Such continues to shine during a variety of functions, a man who knows his place in the world - but also how to circumnavigate the various foe-pars of society. It is not to say he is rigid in personality; flamboyant, the man speaks with his hands as he articulates - emphasising the points he is making.

Nosy is another descriptor for the journalist; he simply cannot help in asking the questions and getting the answers, or poking his head into a variety of situations that perhaps should be left alone. His youth as such was a tableaux of mischief and consequence, often getting him into trouble - but also shedding a light on the truth of the matter. Truth is the most important to him, no matter how much it would grieve him. And the people have the right to know it - in his eyes to not give it would be worse than lying itself.

There are several factors that effect this man and his views on society, the first and foremost is his respect for women. He knows they are more than capable at meeting the same drive and ambition men have, and even hold the ability to surpass them in their fields - his own mother was a bright symbol of that while growing up. It does not mean he will mollycoddle them however, but he sees most of them as at least his equal and would happily assist in promoting their goals should they align with his own views.

The second is his indulgence into a variety pursuits perceived as activities reserved for women; he has a great deal of self care, a keen interest in the turning fashions, enjoys the aromas of flowers, that it is perfectly acceptable to enjoy the arts and performances of the world. He dabbles in the gentle, feminine side, things that were encouraged by both of his parents and allowing a particular element of well being. Where most men would bottle their emotions and keep their feelings inside, he attends to his and finds release - knowing that there must be a balance of both sides to obtain peace.

Finally there is is interests, with the invention of the spectra camera the Journalist has taken up photography on the side for personal pleasure. His other pleasure is that of writing. While his family knows he enjoys the creation of short stories, they are unaware that he writes with a pen name. For the last few years Agnes Rivintuit has produced several short steamy romance novels; it is something the Galdor plans to keep among his few close friends and publisher.

But only for his own, personal amusement.

Backstory

For Thalia Pachis an ambassador of Bastia and Ansgar Vinter an ambassador of Gior, their marriage was at first one of convenience over desire. Since graduating from their respective universities and entering into the world of politics, the pressure from their respective families to find a suitor was rigorously applied. Given their fields the pair inevitably met within the world of politics some thirty-odd years ago, gradually developing a friendship that spanned across nations. With it their blights surfaced and their ambition to further their careers exposed to each other - and both being considered forward thinking for their time - the pair struck a deal to aid each other in their endeavours and free themselves from the chains of their family. A bold move, some argued, but both families seemed content with the move and the deceit passed without notice. Both obtained a sense of security and freedom. In time however, their friendship grew closer and passed over the boundary and formulating into that of lovers. And that was how a union of convince resulted in the birth of Ingatius Vinter.

Ingatius' childhood was between the matriarchal lineage of his father's family in Gior and the bustling society rich with art of his mother's. In both, the boy was introduced to the political world through his parents - along with the social expectations of what was expected of a child of Ambassadors. It was not unusual for him to appear at various functions, presenting himself as that well mannered boy. In private however the boy was encouraged to partake in the various interests that took him, the most apparent being his interest of writing and the written word. Short stories told and shared, the small adventures out with his extended family to explore the societies he dwelt within. A riot of colour, noise, flavour and fashion. His childhood was a happy one. Yet when the time came for him to attend a university, the family once more breathed upon the necks of his parents - each vying for the boy to partake in their respective home territory.

A second bold move was made; Ingatius was sent to Brunnhold and scored a comfortable 4.9. The heavily accented foreigner was thrown in among his Anaxi peers, his first few years proving the hardest due to primarily being a Giorian speaker and the language barrier holding him back. A frustration that was only worsened by the addition of classes due to his acting out. By the time the boy reached his fourteenth birthday, however he suddenly and sharply improved. He was comfortably fluent in both and with a mastery of Estuan on his lips, his education took leaps and bounds beyond the expectations of his tutors. The reason for this improvement was not due to the additional study; but due to the invention of the Camera Spectra and the stories that could go alongside the created images. Writing became his outlet, the mind curious and intrigued by the goings on of the university - until at last he was suggested to join the journalists' society. He did and the boy did not look back.

Even to this day, the man carries a particular interest in photography and the development of.

His time was not always spent within Brunnhold however, summers would send him back to Bastia and to the estates of his cousins - or at least until he was considered mature enough to make his own decisions. He mingled with family, updated in the political events, enjoying the reminder to not stick to the rigid nature Anaxas encouraged. For the times he was not visiting he joined the various extra curricular activities, reminded of the strength of Gior and that balance needed to be maintained between both mind and body. The boy developed into a flamboyant young man, unafraid to adopt effeminate qualities that others may have found strange and was expected at first to follow within the footsteps of his parents as an Ambassador. It came as a surprise to them when he announced he wished to become a journalist, following the procedures of the world and reporting them for the whole world to know.

He followed the circuits for the first few years, serving freelance before returning to Brunnhold and the Stacks. It was there that he began to work for a political paper, starting as an editor before returning once more as a writer where he existed ever since.

When Ignatius was first free of Brunnhold however, he took up writing on the side. In particular, he focused particular attention on short fictional novels. Publishing under the pen name of Agnes Rivintuit, the Galdor released what is described in polite company as 'steamy romances for ladies' - gaining popularity and finding a niche market to sell into. He kept this particular identity quiet, with only a mere handful of close colleagues and publishers knowing the truth.

Housing and Inventory

Housing: Type

A 400sqft (15ft x 25ft) loft apartment in the Stacks, Brunnhold.

It is above one of the main thoroughfares where a variety of cafes and establishments reside that Ignatius Vinter makes his home. Located on this third floor, after traversing a flight of stairs and broad corridor, the first sign you see of this Galdor's lair is a painted burgundy door with a brass plaque reading 'I. Vinter - Journalist'.

Making it past this and into the threshold opens up into a narrow hallway, a door to the right leading into a clean, spartan bathroom while onwards opens out into the apartment proper. High ceilings grace the narrow room, enough so that the space above where the bathroom and entrance way sits has been converted into a bedroom made accessible by a narrow flight of steps. There soft furnishings dwell, the bed itself taking up center space - made but hardly used.

Nestled beneath the stairs a small kitchenette is tucked away, a small round table and chairs beside it. Out across the walls sit a variety of shelves, laden with books and files - past notes for articles, literature aids for writing and a collection of fictional stories (including the first edition works of Anges Rivintuit). Beneath them all sits a desk and a typewriter, an open notepad with a collection of scrawled words on it. Primarily plans on whatever endeavor the journalist is currently partaking in.

The street viewing wall features a set of three tall windows, capped with a set of roller blinds that let in the day light streak in. While all of these open, the middle of the three opens inwards, allowing one to access the wrought iron balconet and look out into the street below. A couch sits facing it, a few cushions and blankets scattered across it marking its frequent enough use.

All in all it is cleanly decorated - dark tile flooring stretches across the lower half, while the upper features wood. There is a lingering scent of coffee, mingled in with ink and books. The walls are painted white, bar the wall that is on the street size. Bare sections hang various pieces of art; though most are articles that were important to the journalist, framed to exist as a memory. A few plants sit upon the windowsill, small things to purify the air and cast some colour into the room. Everything has its place, and Ignatius ensures that it remains somewhat organized.
