PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Cerise is a fair and delicately-featured young woman. Though her body leans toward slender and lithe, and her pale-skinned form makes clear the girl's pampered upbringing indoors, her expression leans more toward the aggressive in most situations. Darker gray eyes, framed by long dark lashes, are often narrowed in concentration or in utter bewilderment at the statements of those around her. That's not to say that young Cerise is a frowning mess - she holds herself with a natural poise and confidence, and can put on an easy, bright smile when need be.

Her hair, slightly waved, is a soft plethora of brunette strands atop her fair head. Typically parted in the middle, she wears short bangs on either side of her face, flipped outward in a natural wave - she is often compared to her late mother in terms of appearance, something Cerise isn't certain how to feel about just yet.

Cerise appreciates neutral, warmer tones in terms of clothing - knee-length plaited skirts, long-sleeved turtlenecks tucked in, knitted sweaters and warm socks. She isn't unused to more formal attire, however, and cleans up nicely when put into a dress - her mother's gowns are a favorite when required to attend events.
PERSONALITY

It would be easy to write her off as combative or confrontational, but Cerise is much more than just a fighter. It's quite easy for the girl to lose her temper, and starting a fight is probably more common an activity in her days than it should be, but she's far from a bully, and even farther from uncaring. Rather, it's difficult for Cerise to keep quiet when she feels someone's doing wrong, be it wronging another person or wronging her view of the world in some fashion, and from there stems the problem.

Cerise has an equally difficult time in most classroom settings. She's not unintelligent or particularly defiant towards authority, but her attention is not easily acquired and even harder to keep. She finds plenty of the world to be a bore - the world of mathematics and sciences, in particular, and her first few years in university were tumultuous and scattered.

Her heart is pure - as pure as one can be, anyway - and once Cerise has made a friend of someone, she's there through thick and thin, until the end. It's not common for the girl to actually befriend someone - she finds most of her peers either too uppity or too concerned with rumors - but once she has, it's easier for Cerise to let her guard down and be open. She has an open mind, at least in her own opinion, and though she might not extend that openness toward passives, she has a rather progressive view of the world.

She's never dealt with humans all that much, and hasn't formed a clear opinion of their kind. The general galdori consensus is that they're inferior, and so she's inclined to believe. Wicks, on the other hand, are the unfortunate spawn of an unlikely, unwanted union - but the sins of their mothers and fathers are not to be held against the son.

In terms of hobbies and interests, Cerise has many: she's recently taken an interest in the world of insects and their colonies, she has a fondness for art (painting landscapes, specifically), she has a soft spot for all animals, and finds astrology to be a curious and worthwhile subject to look into. Politics, although not her favorite thing by far, are a part of the world she's come to understand and fit into easily, and being the firstborn to a man with no sons, Cerise understands that she has some form of obligation to her family's position and might have to pursue a career as a politician.

Her frustration towards this matter is often expressed through her excessive dueling - Cerise is never one to turn down a challenge, and has a longstanding record of never being bested in a duel. Truly, she has a passion for the art of the duel, and the practice and furthering of her magic is not something she has ever taken for granted.
BACKSTORY

Cerise Maria Vauquelin was born on Vortas 6th in the year 2791, to Maria and Anatole Vauquelin, in the city of Vienda. Being the firstborn child to an Anaxi Incumbent meant a lot of things - there was pressure on young Cerise from the very start to be the smartest, be the strongest, be the prettiest, be the best. She learned from a very young age that appearances are everything, and that a wealthy, political family does not equate to a happy one.

She was two years old when her mother died, and though she has very few memories of her, Cerise holds her close to her heart. At such a young age, everything surrounding the situation and her parents' marriage was far too complicated and mature for her to understand, and Cerise welcomed her father's second wife into her childhood with hopeful arms, glad to have a mother again even if it wasn't the real thing.

Of course, as she grew older, Cerise began to understand the truths of her reality. Rumors could make or break one's career in the world of politics, and they were thrown around like crumpled papers in the home of the Vauquelins and their loose-tongued servants. She wouldn't overhear, they thought, she wouldn't understand if she did - but Cerise knew what it all meant. She knew that her father was far from faithful to her late mother, and from that stemmed a growing bitterness both towards her father and his second wife.

It was freeing to turn ten and finally exit what she could only view as a house of lies; Brunnhold's red, fortified walls provided a sense of stability and truth that Cerise had long wished for. Her first few years were more than difficult, despite the comforts she found in the university; the young woman had a hard time making friends and an even harder one paying attention in her classes. Still she excelled; magically gifted and intellectually spirited, hoping to meet her father's expectations even if she refused to visit her home.

At the end of her fifth year, Cerise chose to pursue Physical conversation as her focus, and has not regretted her decision. In the years since, she has advanced both her dueling skills and her magical skills in general, even if she's remained mostly friendless.

In the past year, she finally agreed to visit home, attending a play in Vienda with her family - she is still incredibly confused by her father's subsequent behaviors and his disappearance, but ever since the day he collapsed, Cerise has not attempted contact and has refused monetary aid.
