Physical Description

Image

Ralor stands at one meter and sixty five centimeters, or five feet and five inches, give or take. As most Hoxian galdori he is rather wiry, having little body fat to speak of. His skin is a pale cream, soft and clear despite being from a cold country and the multiple sea travels through the desert rivers and the consequent exposure to the elements; his hair is relatively long, tickling the middle of his shoulders when untied, but mostly brushed back and kept in a knot at the top back of his head, and trimmed short on the sides, a sailor's technique he learned from faring the seas and their hot and cold winds. He is covered in supple black leather clothing, showcasing his wealth and status. He has a bag which dangles behind him at the low of his back, where among other items, such as ball pen and ink, he holds his grimoire.

He holds himself publicly in strict fashion; he rarely slouches his shoulders or folds his chest inwards, and his abdomen is flexed along with his buttocks and legs to maintain a certain air of majesty and relaxed violence at all times. He does his best to keep his Field still, for as the saying goes "still waters run deep" and the fluidity of Fields should inform the same to others; he considers his field appearance as importance as his visual appearance. Privately, all this may change, but a certain degree of certainty about his surroundings must come along with him for himself to allow his posture and emotions to relax. He considers this a very intimate situation.

Personality

Image

He is quite arrogant and anti social due to his upbringing, being moved around from city to city during his infancy; being the son of an ambassador meant plenty of travel, so he never grew close to other kids, which is why he is quite selfish even for galdori standards. He still gives to charity for the sake of his public image. There's a difference between being selfish and not understanding societal perceptions. He had some opportunities during school and university to grow his social skills, but the damage was done: a selfish but cunning galdor had been raised. This also bolsters, or maybe feeds off, his sense of self importance, which is quite strong. He believes he has gifts handed down to him by the gods that can be improved beyond anything this world has seen, but none the wiser around him to realize that. While he is devoted to his family and empire, he is more devoted to his personal legend.

Most of his self-centering comes from the fact he has lived most of his life abroad, and has absorbed a lot of Anaxi culture which conflicts directly with his Hoxian brethren; by contrast, his Hoxian ancestry makes him an outsider in Anaxas, if not by definition, then by the preconceived notion that exists of Hox's galdori.

He treats all speech as if it were a Conversation with Mona, speaking truthfully and stridently, except in the few occasions where deception is needed; some goals are far too great to risk speaking the truth and gamble with destiny. He will sometimes gesture with his hands as if weaving a spell, however a true telltale sign that he speaks the truth is when he raises his hand with his index and thumb pressed together and draws a quick circle before lowering it and proceeding with the conversation; not many people aside a couple of teachers have ever realized this, and fewer would associate it's absence to a possible deception.

He is single, but probably not ready to mingle. He has had flings with galdori ladies, but he is quite a bit anti social, which means he has never developed the necessary social skills to establish a loving relationship, instead having fast burning relationships that last only few days or weeks before growing bored and moving on. Due to the selective nature of his romantic encounters with purebreds, he had likely not sired any children, especially any wicks. No god would be cruel enough to taint his lineage with a passive, he hoped, but if so he also hoped they would be merciful enough to never let him know of the aberrations existence.

While Ralor dislikes most humans and wicks, he is more distasteful of wicks. Humans and galdori can reproduce but that doesn't mean they should; humans are inferior and the wicks existence proves that while it enhances a human's lineage, it degrades the galdori’s. However, the one thing he truly hates is passives, but only because of the fear that comes from instinct, which leads to repugnance and hatred: he acts as though contact with a passive will dampen and snuff his field permanently, and he does his best to avoid any interaction at all.

Backstory

Ralor Szczebrzeszynks, son of Ralvo Szczebrzeszynks and Hilda Szeczebrzeszynks, was born in the far away kingdom of Hox. His family lived atop the mountains and in lands held by the family for centuries; his parents lived comfortably off the land until the government approached them. They had been selected among other "random" candidates for an ambassadorial position towards the far away kingdom of Anaxas.

Ralor was a babe but his parents insisted on not only accepting, but also on taking him alongside them on their mission. They thought it would make for an interesting experience for the baby growing up, but truth was his mom would not let him stay behind, nor would she give up the opportunity of a lifetime by not participating in such an adventure. Taking the baby was the next best thing.

Nobody believed he would survive; he didn’t seem like a particular constituted baby, and considering the trip would need to be made through sea, some thought if the winds, temperature or a storm didn’t take the babe, a seagull would.

Because Ralor’s grandfather held lands in the valley and sublet them, they had a vested interest in improving outgoing trade routes. It was suggested they could go not around Mugroba, but through. This way, they could create a vast trade network spanning the three kingdoms by sailing through the south of Hox instead of the north. This, while a wonderful opportunity, meant a lot of time spent at sea without many kids, and months at shore with strangers handling the babe. But hey, his family stood the chance to make a lot of money from this.

Growing up in between ships and land, Ralor never made any real connections with anyone except his parents. His father was stern but fair, and his mom caring and accepting. It was wonderful, but he never got to make childhood friends, none that he would have for life, at least.

After the initial travels through Mugroba they reached Anaxas. The climate was better than in Mugroba, but still a bit nippy for someone from the peaks of Hox. Travels would resume back and forth from Anaxas and Mugroba, Mugroba and Hox. Ralor met his family every once in a while, but he never really felt they were familiar. He could not relate to them as well as his parents did.

At the age of four, his family had settled semi-permanently in Anaxas as ambassadors. Due to his birth date, they decided it’d be best to settle for him to enroll in Brunnhold so as to start his studies. This lead to a life growing up in Anaxas, with visits here and there to meet his extended family. He would stay with them once every couple years in one of the extended vacations, but as he grew in mainland Anaxas, he would grow greener rather than snowier, and Hox’s culture clashed with his greenlandish growing up. The subtleties were enough to drive a divide between him and the rest of his family in spite of his parent's best efforts.

At the age ten, he was tested for magic in the Brunnhold; even as a young lad, he scored admirably. He’d spend the next few years of his life focusing in perceptive and static, however soon he dropped the study on static to focus on perceptive; he had informed his father he would like to pursue a career in politics once he grew up to be just like him, and he had advised him that following two Conversations would be detrimental at such a young stage of his development.

As a young adult, Ralor’s relationship with his extended family deteriorated more and more to the point they could barely be considered family, but he still met them out of courtesy to his parents. His Anaxi influence heavily clashed with the Hoxian culture though.

Post graduation, Ralor went into Perceptive Conversation with a focus on Politics as an area of study, and as he came closer to finishing he decided to get an internship with an incumbent, so as to take his first steps into the political scene. However, destiny didn’t want him to go in so fast, and brought bad news: a storm along the Turga river claimed the ship his parents were traveling through. At least that's what the official report claimed. He had a different suspicion: pirates. The Bad Brothers, most likely. He waited for months for any news about their bodies being found, but they were just declared dead alongside the entire crew by the Mugrobi government.

He visited his extended family one last time for the funeral. Empty graves were marked in the local cemetery alongside the rest of the family. He made arrangements with his grandparents and the local authorities: his parents had amassed a small fortune by themselves, and according to his grandfather, he could still hold some rights over the land that they sublet. He agreed to that, and in further conversations with Hoxian government officials, agreed to take on the mantle of his parents work as soon as he was able to do so. A lot hinged on this position and he didn't want to blunder it.

Once he was done with his post-graduate studies, months after returning to Anaxas, he heard of the story of the incumbent which went mental and then back, and he might be ready once again to initiate Ralor into the political scene. All Ralor had to do was approach him.

Career and Income

Occupation

Intern for an Incumbent.
As the child of an ambassador he understands certain aspects of diplomacy and leadership, however he never had a chance to apply them, thus the internship.

Income: Wealth Level

Wealthy - recently orphaned, Ralor inherited the accumulated family's fortune. Aided by his current occupation, he shouldn't have issues maintaining this status unless he incurs more expenses than he can cover for with his current salary.

Housing and Inventory

Housing: Type

As a graduated galdor with an interest in politics, he has been able to rent a relatively cheap house just at the periphery of the city. It's not much but it allows him to live comfortably. The house is thirty minutes walk away from the city center.

Inventory

Grimoire -- a rather elegant book, bound in blackned leather, with a red satin page marker and gilded edges.
Fountain Pen & Ink -- the ivory has been polished and dyed dark, and the tip is dipped in gold. It’s a sight to behold.
Dagger -- As a precaution, Ralor holds a dagger on his person, with the scabbard belted into his belt, at his back just under his jacket. The handle is simple oiled wood, with copper ending. The dagger itself is not too ornate; while he never used it, if he ever had to use it, he wouldn’t want something too fancy that could be traced back to him.

Goals

It is Ralor's goal to learn his true name. Because mona and it's mastery separates galdori from the rest, and guides them and fosters their natural place in this world, it is only natural that a galdor's highest aspiration be that of mastering communication with mona.

He also wishes to become a very influential ruler, and finally break racial tensions by putting each race into its tier. To do so, he leaned into the political life, which he intends to climb. Further and further from the ground, into his heavenly place by the gods.

Short term, he intends to complete or assist in completing his parent's goals of returning Hox to the kingdom circle, as well as create positive trade relationships between Hox, Mugabra and Annax, part of which involves taming the Bad Brother's piracy in Mugrabi waters.
