Physical Description

Image

Sarinah is wick as wick can be, with her deep rich chocolate eyes, olive skin and thick mahogany tresses that fall in waves down to her waist. With high cheekbones and a strong feminine jaw, her face is welcoming, with a smile that was once forced. Her lips are full, the heritage of her murky perhaps Mugrobi, perhaps Hessean ancestry trickling through in her features, adorned at times with a rich red lip stain. Her lashes are thick and long under shapely brows, leaving little need for make up.

She is slightly taller than average at 5’10” with hidden strength in a supple athletic frame and long dancers legs. Her hour glass shape is marred ever so slightly by the marks of motherhood, worn proudly and without shame. The brunette wick has a walk that comes from years of her artform, hips leading each step, though her face shows the past in it's sometimes distance stare, wearing the signs of a girl who has had to play at being a woman for far to long.

Personality

Image

Once upon a time, it was hard to see the real Sarinah under her stage façade, the girl that she truly was buried under a seductress she made to stay one step away from Scarlett’s back rooms. Now that she is free of the Mad Queen, the woman is one who loves to laugh and joke and make friends. She is kind to those who need it, and ready to lend the very shirt off her back or just a friendly ear.

The one trait she has that perhaps gives her more trouble than it should is her ‘fight’ attitude. Sarinah will fight tooth and nail to defend her fami and those who she loves. This doesn’t see her come out unscathed, but she will fight till her last breath, perhaps to the frustration of her lover.

The one thing Sarinah wants more than anything else in the world, is freedom. She has earned her escape from the brothel, but that doesn't mean she is free. In the Rose, there is no freedom. If it's not Scarlett, its Hawke.

The brunette dreams of the day that her whole life is her own, to live peaceful with her daughter and her lover. One where they don't have to look over their shoulder every moment of the day.

Alignment:
Neutral Good - A neutral good character typically acts altruistically, without regard for or against lawful precepts such as rules or tradition. A neutral good character has no problems with cooperating with lawful officials, but does not feel beholden to them. In the event that doing the right thing requires the bending or breaking of rules, they do not suffer the same inner conflict that a lawful good character would.[

Personality:
INFP | The Mediator - Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.

Backstory

Born in the Nomadic Lands, to the Yellow Eye tribe, Sarinah was raised under the leadership of Durg Lordes, learning that family matters, that belonging matters, and in doing so developed her own strong belief that the nomads need to settle down and start creating their own 'place'.

As a child of the Yellow Eye Tribe, the wick knew of the civil unrest between her kin and the Red Crows. There was never a time where one could trust a Crow, or so it was said. Sarinah couldn't accept this, knowing in her heart that one’s ancestors didn't determine one's heart or mind. A good person was a good person, and everyone deserved equal rights. Tribes and races. Not only this, but freedom. Everyone, no matter race or background or damned relationship with the mona, everyone deserves freedom.

The spoke life was something she never took to, feeling incomplete without having a solid place to call home. This caused strain on the relationship with her father, who was an old world wick, firmly rooted in Deep Tek and tradition—and the bottle. The two fought bitterly, much to her mother’s heartache, Sarinah disgusted by the man’s lack of openmindedness and self control. When she turned eighteen, Sarinah left the tribe to start a life in Old Rose, dreaming of a little family and even a home, right on the beach. Visions of dark haired children running barefoot through a small house by the sea filled her youthful mind. In the wake of a vicious argument with her da, she tore away from the tribe and made her way to Old Rose. Applying for a job as an entertainer for The Mad Queen, a beached vessel turned permanently established entertainment venue that promised a healthy income for hard working wicks. The naive young wick signed her contract, unable to read it well enough to understand any of the information.

It was there, her life took a turn she didn't expect.

She entered the huge galleon, permanently built into its moorings, adorned with red glowing lanterns and smelling of thick cloying perfumes that wafted from smoking scones. Climbing the ramp up onto deck, a red haired woman introduced herself to the woman.

She was Scarlett Jezabelle, and she was the Madame on The Mad Queen which was to become Sarinah's new home. There was an arrangement it seemed, between the red head woman and a man known as Silas Hawke . He and his Bad Brothers had built the contract signed, and in cleverness of the wicked, it stated that the woman was now indentured to him for board and such future determined with no clear end date. She would be fed and housed, but in turn she belonged to the King, and in turn to Scarlett. In return, he got a cut of the profits that Scarlett’s infamous establishment dragged in.

As she was taken on a tour down into the bowels of the refurbished ship, Sarinah's dark eyes widened with horror as she saw the nature of the establishment.

A brothel.

Luck have it, the girl wasn’t put to work on her back at first. She was instead given the task of entertaining in the main hall with her cards and palm reading. Her talents were slowly directed to turning the girl into a waitress, teaching her how to balance drinks whilst sidestepping pinching hands and lewd offers of other work for her pretty mouth. Sarinah smiled, learning the fine art of deflecting as inside her entire being cringed.

Of course, this line of work wouldn’t last long. Scarlett had her eye on the girl since she arrived, seeing potential coin in her fresh faced features at the time. It was a brothel after all.

At the age of nineteen, Scarlett had Sarinah taken under the tutelage of Mistress Wren, a woman with a talent for exotic dance on what she dubbed an ‘aerial hoop’, getting on in years. The audience wanted someone young, supple. Someone to fire up their vile fantasies. The girl protested heavily, unwilling to go from waitress to paid attraction, but it was only met with the brunt of the Madam’s will. She would learn, and she would perform, or she would die.

The lessons were painful, and harsh. Mistress Wren had a rule; If you performed well enough out the front, then you wouldn’t need to go out the back. Make enough coin on stage, and Scarlett would be less inclined to feed you to the patrons begging to buy a pound of your flesh. So she wore the woman’s teachings, sickened to her stomach at the outfits that left nothing to the imagination and falling from the hoop more than once. Again!, Wren would screech, forcing the girl back into the hoop again and again, leaving her bruised and sometimes bleeding. Finally, when it came to her first performance was a disaster, and the Madam prepared to put her up for purchase. Sarinah begged for another chance, promised Scarlett she would give her an act unlike anything else in Anaxas. Swayed by the potential win-win of the situation, the woman gave her one more chance. Sarinah drew upon her desperation, incorporating more daring movements into her routine and letting her fear of the ‘back rooms’ guide her. It worked, much to the young woman’s relief. And thus, her alias Mistress Dove was born.

That had been her life for years, dancing for all she thought she was worth to stay out the front. That’s not to say Scarlett didn’t try her out the back, sold to a high bidding customer who paid a fine sum to spend the evening with her Dove. The trial ended with blood and tears as Sarinah fought her purchaser with everything she had and was in turn 'educated' by the Bad Brothers. The encounter took weeks for the woman to heal, a risk that cost Scarlett more concords than it was worth, Silas Hawke vehemently disappointed. Afraid to loose their best meal ticket, the woman allowed her to continue to be a dancer, but the clock was ticking. No real home to call her own, no family to come and rescue her from the dive. The young wick's dreams were at a standstill.

Till fate it seemed, intervened, in the form of a passive stranger in wicks clothing.

Enamoured by the chivalry of Tristaan Greymoore, who stepped in to protect her from a patron and instead showed her the truth of her situation—slavery without so many words—Sarinah pursued a secret relationship with the passive. When Scarlett discovered them, she locked the brunette witch up and put a hit out on the grey eyed man. But love it seemed, could not be contained by fear nor by locked doors. Mistress Wren took pity on the couple, seeing the the Dove as a daughter she could never have. She helped the young woman escape, bringing the two together with supplies and instructions to run and never return.

Their escape was not without tribulation, the Bad Brothers catching them in the street, Tristaan takin them down, but not without his own injuries. The witch dragged him to the docks, knowing he was slowly loosing his tenuous grip on life with each step. The kindness of a Deep Water fami kint on that day, saved their lives. Travelling with the fami, the young couple enjoyed their first Surwood Festival in many maw, twenty something both. It was here, they met Balder and his circus troupe, becoming part of the travelling act.

During this time, the young couple discovered their relationship had fostered life, a blessing and a curse. As a passive, Tristaan was forbidden by law to breed. As a wick, Sarinah was just another half-breed diluting the galdori bloodlines. They travelled with the circus to Vienda, opening night happening right in the middle of the Yaris Riots. Fire, death and destruction brought down the big top, and in the midst of the riot, Silas Hawke’s right hand woman appeared to drag both of the escapees back to Old Rose.

A deal was struck for freedom. Tristaan would fight in the arena, Sarinah would work the tables, to pay their dues owed. Scarlett however, had other plans. She wanted Sarinah back, and would resort to nothing for this. After the birth of their boch, the red haired woman paid the couple a visit. In this moment she revealed herself as a galdori, and as wanting to rule the Rose over Hawke. She offered them true freedom, in exchange for helping her with a curious job in Brunnhold.

Weighing up the options, Tristaan took the job, but he told Hawke what he knew in exchange for the true freedom they both sought. It was granted.

Or at least, it seemed.

Now the young couple are looking to find their feet in this uncertain new world, one eye over their shoulder lest Scarlett seek her revenge. Still working at the Rose Arena, now for their own ging, Sarinah has an idea brewing that could give them and their daughter the future they both seek.

Though, it won’t be easy. And it won’t be without risk.
