Sunner is six-feet-two-inches and of a slightly above average build, he is muscular but not muscle-bound, and he can bench a solid amount of weight. He has blonde hair that reaches to just below his shoulder blades, it's often filthy and matted with grease or dirt, as is his somewhat scruffy beard-- something he is too lazy to shave on the regular. His face is often splotched with grease as well, resulting in near permanent discolorations in certain spots on his forehead and left cheek- where he tends to rest his dirty hands (gloved or otherwise) when drinking or thinking.
He has blue eyes, though they are often dull due to boozing it up. One of his best features is his smile, which has been described in the past as something that can light up a room. When he isn't drunk out of his mind, his eyes are quite bright.
Sunner has a few large scars on his body, the most prominent one being on his back, the result of getting in trouble with the law. His style of dress is best described as "lazy", often consisting of untucked, unwashed shirts, unwashed trousers or coveralls, old leather gloves that look like they're about to fall apart, and maybe a rather worse for wear overcoat for the cold. At worst, he looks unkempt, and at best he looks like a working man.
Typical hairstyles for Sunner include slicked back (with grease), worn in a ponytail on the back of his head, and loose.
The oldest of three children, Sunner had to grow up fast, and is often fairly pessimistic about life, his father went missing or died-- he doesn't know which exactly, and so he considers his father a deadbeat, and is convinced he'll end up the same if he ever has kids of his own. He absolutely adores his two younger sisters, and would (and probably will) die for them.
It's hard to get much out of Sunner most of the time, as he prefers to stay quiet if he isn't drinking or trying desperately to charm the ladies. When he isn't drunk, he actually sounds quite intelligent, and some have even said he's funny and kind.
He is happiest when he's working with machines or tinkering with bits of metal.
Sunner dislikes the Galdori, finding them to be pompous, stuck up, and annoying. Even worse if they use magic in front of him, he will openly react in disgust. For some reason, this visceral reaction isn't present when he sees a Wick use magic, even finding it interesting in that situation.
He has no opinion on Passives, and doesn't know the first thing about any sort of creepy, body stealing Ghosts that his youngest sister has told him stories about.
Sunner loves his home city of Old Rose, calls it the best place in Anaxas to live and make a living, although your mileage may vary. He finds other cities to be 'too clean' and has heard the stories about primarily Galdori cities being outright awful, he believes them. His opinion of Vienda has yet to be formed fully.
Sunner was born to [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] on the fourteenth of Ophus, 2691. He was the first of three children, and his middle sibling, Marianne, was born when Sunner was already thirteen years old. His youngest sibling, Dorothy was born just two years later. Two months later, his father disappeared, leaving his mother to raise the children. She was unable to cope with the grief, and turned to drugs, laudanum being the primary choice. His mother was quickly unable to care for the children, and so Sunner took over. He was only lucky enough to have gleaned enough knowledge of blacksmithing from his father to convince a now defunct smithy to take him in to earn what was little more than pocketchange.
Somehow he managed to scrape by, often going without in order to pay rent and support his sisters, though his mother regularly stole money from him to fund her drug habit. She passed away on his twentieth birthday, when he was out with Marianne (7) and Dorothy (5), buying them a couple pieces of candy each. Ever since he has been the only adult in the home, and has done his best to keep his sisters out of trouble, and most importantly, out of any nefarious hands.
When Dorothy was nine years old, she was attacked by someone Sunner didn't see, and they damaged her hearing. While she isn't deaf, she is moderately hard of hearing, and Sunner has done his best to learn sign to help communicate with her, although it has been hard to find time for studying between working for long hours to support Marianne (11) and Dorothy.
At 25, just one year after Dorothy's attack, Sunner decided to begin working closer to home, in fact, directly in their home, transforming one corner of the main room of their shack into a small workshop. Most of the mechanical work he does consists of fixing clocks or other common bits of tech, and while he does make some alright money, most of it is being taken by taxes or rent, and the rest goes to his sisters.
He never became adept at saving money, and often spent what little he kept for himself on liquor, prostitutes and any bit of scrap he could buy with the leftovers for his own projects, including an already mostly destroyed pistol, which he 'fixed', although it's more of a liability than anything.
After finding his way into the resistance, he made his way to Vienda, although he was extremely worried about leaving his sisters, Marianne (15) assured him that she would look after Dorothy (13) and they would be just fine. Thankfully, Marianne takes after him and has taken over his 'shop' for the time, while Dorothy begs or sells whatever she can find to whomever will buy it. While in Vienda, he paid a visit to a brothel, blew all of his money, 'rescued' one of the prostitutes, and took off at a mad sprint to the docks where they acquired a ship, which Sunner intends to turn into a steam powered ship before heading back to Old Rose.
But why was he even going to Vienda in the first place? Why, he managed to convince someone in charge that he could smuggle firearms of course.
