Despite being a pirate and a criminal, Graves prefers to dress in a mock representation of galdori authority. He wears nicely tailored jackets lined in fur, belts and buttons crafted from counterfeit gold and leather is a staple in his attire. At his side are his two trusted pistols: Saint Rivaine and Tall Boy.
Graves can siphon out blood from people or animals within his surrounding vicinity. The action tends to be fast and swift, and leaves the victims mummified husks devoid of moisture or blood. The resulting blood remains in the air like a cloud of red until the spell ends, from which it will begin to rain down.
personality type:
INTJ - the architect
People with the INTJ personality type are imaginative yet decisive, ambitious yet private, amazingly curious, but they do not squander their energy. A paradox to most observers, INTJs are able to live by glaring contradictions that nonetheless make perfect sense – at least from a purely rational perspective. For example, INTJs are simultaneously the most starry-eyed idealists and the bitterest of cynics, a seemingly impossible conflict. Rules, limitations and traditions are anathema to the INTJ personality type – everything should be open to questioning and reevaluation, and if they see a way, INTJs will often act unilaterally to enact their technically superior, sometimes insensitive, and almost always unorthodox methods and ideas.
alignment:
neutral evil
A neutral evil villain does whatever he can get away with. He is out for himself, pure and simple. He sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, or convenience. He has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble. On the other hand, he doesn't have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has.
- Mathias is the eldest son of the a Damen and Rivaine D'arthe, a Patrol Captain of the Seventen and his wife. The day of his birth was considered "auspicious."
- Mathias had a relatively normal childhood except that his father was very strict and paid him close attention due to wanting to groom him as a future Seventen. He received a lot of disciplinary action but was saved from the worst of it by his mother.
- At the age of 10, when he took the test for his magical ability, it was revealed he was a passive. This struck a devastating blow to Mathias' father, who personally took it almost like a cruel joke from the gods. Upon the knowledge, he paid under the table to not release the results of this test to anyone else and intended to get rid of his son.
- Rivaine knew of this plot and intended to intervene by asking her brother to take her son somewhere where he could be safe, however, Mathias' father got to him first and instead paid his mother's brother to clap the boy in chains and send him to the factories, making sure his family name was erased on all records.
- Mathias grew up under the lash of a whip and the unwanted attentions of his superiors. He was worked hard and built up walls to protect himself from the constant onslaught of oppression and abuse from all sides. The boy grew into a cold, distant young teen who mistrusted authority and the galdori who called themselves their superiors.
- Eventually was promoted to a "runner" due to his work ethic and was scouted at age 14 by a pirate named Guss. Guss took a liking to him, and took his contract from the factory, making the teen a deckhand on his airship.
- Mathias spent some years with Captain Guss, learning how to work the deck of an airship and eventually pilot one. They grew close in ways that the crew were not unaware of, though no one spoke of it, at least, not until Mathias turned 18 and he was cornered on a ship by the handful of the crew. They beat him, using both fists and objects, and when Guss finally became aware of what was happening, he came in, only for Mathias' diablerie to finally trigger for the first time, killing almost everyone on board, including Guss.
- In the aftermath, Mathias was left with a ship to himself and two more wick deckhands, and rose from the bloody remains as its new captain, broken by the events that transpired. Self-preservation kicked in, and the young man had to quickly learn how to survive on his own. And that was just what he did.
