Physical Description

Image

Monica does everything possible to keep every part of herself clean and beautiful. Waking up extra early in the morning to fix her hair, expertly-applied makeup covering her smooth, feminine features. Her routine is clear in the softness of her skin and lack of scars or blemishes, and it would be blasphemous for her to go out otherwise.

Her hair, though naturally red in hue, is a light blonde. Soft to the touch at all times, it is typically flowing loose over her shoulders in waves, but now and then she pulls it back into a tight ponytail. On rare occasions, she'll put more effort into styling it, in a style similar to an updo. Every few years, once her hair has grown too long for her taste, she cuts it all off, leaving it to reach just the bottom of her ears and grow out again for a few years.

As said before, she keeps her skin soft; a pale, ivory complexion free of markings of any sort, at least none visible with her clothes on. Beneath her tidy public appearance lies the evidence of her past mistakes; the reminders that she can never smooth out. Her back appears a battleground; long lines scarred across the skin, some always angry and red, some having settled into her form. They clump together mostly across her shoulders, although the odd lash here and there exists. Lower, her buttocks display the same scars, even extending down to the backs of her thighs.

She covers everything with her Seventen uniform, and when alone at home, takes care not to catch sight of her back in the mirror.

Her eyes, blue and sometimes tinted green in coloration, hold a spark of confidence that often comes across as narcissism. Indeed, her face is almost always wrapped up in a smirk, only furthering the common thought that she feels herself superior to others.

She stands at 5'3", with a fit, slender frame.

Personality

Image

At first glance, Monica might look like a friendly woman; all smiles and a strong sense of justice.

Upon taking another look, one would realize that Monica is more akin to a devil. She smiles most commonly when offering insults or demeaning, belittling comments; her laughter brought on by the failure of others. While not likely to just walk up to someone and belittle them, she takes no issue in slipping into conversations just to throw her opinion where it's not needed. She believes herself superior to even fellow galdori, and is quick to point out one's each and every flaw, especially when it comes to work.

She is unfortunately excellent at her job, but a horror to work with.

Monica can be friendly, of course, but there is no authenticity to her words. More often than not, her attempts at friendship are a ploy to gain information and find weaknesses in others, and then drag these insecurities to the light when it best suits her. Whether its convincing a girl that she's too big, not attractive enough to wear a shirt that she wants, or dragging a fellow Seventen down in order to take their place, nothing is off limits to Monica. She is unwilling to lose, and willing to do anything to win.

These toxic behaviors and tendencies bring her a rather solitary life, but Monica tries not to dwell on the consequences of her actions. She tries not to think about all the opportunities in life she's missed and thrown away because of her ambitions, but now and then she'll break down in her isolation. These private outbursts are usually followed by a more aggressive attitude towards the public the next day.

Beyond her irritation and aggression towards other people, Monica has other downfalls as well. She doesn't realize it herself, but Monica is a deeply obsessive person, to the point of stalking and interfering with the lives of those she's obsessed with. Often these people will be the odd person that ignores her sharp personality and shows her kindness.

She doesn't have many opinions on the other races. She recognizes the galdori as the master race and rightful leaders, but views all others as mere pests. They are disposable, dirty, and shouldn't be left to their own devices.

Backstory

Monica believes that her parents are both examples of failed galdori; of potential wasted.

Her mother, Alana, met an older man while studying at Brunnhold. Though she was still a student, she caught the professor's eye, and the two quickly fell for each other.

That's what they would have their families believe. In reality, the professor lusted after a student that felt nothing for him, but Alana saw an opportunity in his affections. In exchange for less work and more reward in the classroom, Alana agreed to date the professor, but disregarded her friends' urging for her to be careful. Within three months of their arrangement, Alana was pregnant.

Although the professor didn't wish to keep the child, and found the notion of children disgusting, Alana decided to once again disregard the opinions of another and have her baby. Though she cared not for the professor, and knew her life would change forever, she felt herself warming to the idea of motherhood. Of having someone love and cherish her, and she would finally love them the same.

Unfortunately, motherhood did not come naturally to the young galdor. At the tender age of 17 and 38, Alana and the professor had their first child, giving her Alana's last name and naming her Monica Delacore. The professor allowed Alana and their child to move in with him, but even with both parents' attention, Monica was not a loved or a wanted child. Her cries drove her mother crazy, and her tendency to drop and break her father's possessions led to strict discipline from both. She was not a bad child by any means, but her parents couldn't take the stress.

As Monica aged, her father's punishments worsened. What once had been a quick slap on the wrist turned to all-out lashings; Terrence's cane becoming an object of destruction towards the growing child's back. She came to expect punishment from the smallest of things, such as her steps being too loud or her shirt being too wrinkled, and turned to complete silence in favor of angering her parents with the wrong words. For five years, Monica was completely mute, and only forced herself to speak again once she was tested and accepted into Brunnhold.

The university was a breath of fresh air for young Monica. Though her father worked there, and she knew she would one day end up in his class, she was free of her parents and their hostility. She never quite fit in with her peers, always finding them far too excitable and childish, but at the same time longed to share in their carefree natures. As they grew and blossomed with friendships and love and knowledge, Monica growth stemmed from bitterness; as watching others experience the things she wanted took its toll. She felt alone, surrounded by her peers, and eventually found her ambitions and dreams slipping out of sight and out of mind.

Knowing that she could never just give in and live a carefree, loving, joyful life, she decided instead to not live at all. Her attempt at ending her life, however, was put on hold when an older student found her alone and in tears, and questioned what her mourning was for.

Monica didn't give him a real answer, but the question changed something. It was the first time words came easily to her, and she spent the rest of the day talking with him; about everything she could think of. Likes, dislikes, magic, food, pet peeves, goals, hopes, dreams, fears, it all spilled from her mouth as she finally found someone that would listen.

After that day, she got herself back on track. She focused on her studies and ignored the students and their lives happening all around her; determined now that she would do the same as that older boy and join the Seventen.

Upon graduating, she did.
