Physical Description

Image

Gaelin stands out among his fellow Galdori, at an imposing 5ft 10 inches. Possessing fair skin with the slight yellow tint, and blazing red hair, his race is unquestionable, even at a glance. Lean muscles cover his body, preserving him from the more lanky framework of a typical Galdori. Gaelin moves gracefully and with a proper posture, which appears one-half confidence and the other half pretension. Always, his sapphire blue eyes are staring with a measuring look. To see him smiling is a rare occurrence, but often will he have a smirk on his face as he thinks things through.

Personality

Image

Gaelin walks a fine line between following his ambitions and showing restraint. Constantly, he works to maintain an appearance of being calm and collected. In truth, Gaelin is often frustrated because he doesn't have the respect that he feels he deserves. Despite how others attempted to ostracize him for his unusual size, Gaelin embraced it and sometimes will use it to his advantage. While he's not OCD, Gaelin is known for being a bit of a "neat freak". After all, appearances can make all the difference.

Courteous is how he tries to be when dealing with other Galdori. Regarding humans, Gaelin considers his relationship to by symbiotic in the sense that Galdori have their roles to play, and so do the humans. As long as the humans maintain their role and understand their position in society, everything will be fine. Wicks are a confusing topic to him. While they're clearly inferior, they still have some magical aptitude which make them better than humans. Passives are a scourge that make the Galdori appear flawed. A being with Galdori blood reduced to functioning like a human? Gaelin would be surprised they didn't commit suicide from the shame.

Ever since the Resistance formed, Gaelin has felt that humans and wicks had become rather bold. Not in a good way either. If they wanted better living conditions or more wages, fine. They could work hard at it. But didn't they already live in harmony? All this violence for something they already had seems foolish. Gaelin doesn't distinguish the extremists from the rest of the Freedom Fighters very well. Galdori sympathizers feel like traitors.

Backstory

The Reliaria family is wealthy, and influential, in Vienda. Gaelin’s parents are both retired government officials. His father was a judge and his mother was a Captian of the Guard in the Seventen. They had four children in total, two boys and two girls in the middle. Gaelin is the youngest of his siblings, all of whom maintain socially expected communication with him. His unusual height was first noticed at a young age, and alienated him from his brother and sisters before anyone else. There were rumors that Gaelin might not have been pure Galdori, but those rumors were proven false when he was sent to Brunnhold for his initiation test.

On his test, Gaelin scored above average, and on par with each of his siblings. Yet, this wasn’t enough for them to accept him. Gaelin studied hard, and explored Conversations that none of his siblings had advanced their understanding in. His thinking was that if he excelled at something they had not, then he’d earn their respect. So, he focused his studies on Physical and Static Conversations. In doing so, he started to understand and appreciate that all things have a cause and an effect. As Gaelin’s understanding about it grew, it helped him realize what he wanted to do once he graduated from Brunnhold. An Investigator for the Seventen.

During his seventh form, Gaelin began learning about constructing conversations with the Mona for new spells. While others students were more concerned with establishing social and political connections, or learning how to perform more impressive spells, Gaelin augmented his studies with learning to make spells. In doing so, he found a few friends that were social outcasts as well. One of them, Anita, was only able to communicate through sign language. Gaelin struggled, but was able to learn a bit of sign to communicate with her. They learned they had many similar interests, including becoming Investigators for the Seventen. Once they graduated, they fell out of touch.

After his tenth form and graduation, Gaelin went to Numbrey for training. Upon arrival, he was told that he was going to be stationed at Old Rose Harbor. Such a location was going to require investigative skills as well as combat training. Gaelin was taught how to appropriately use bladed weapons, and favored the broadsword. He wasn’t part of the quick turn around for recruitment like many others that had followed him there. Gaelin spent nearly five years training his skills. While he was there, he put his training to use to discover why he was going somewhere the galdori did not have a strong, or respected presence. Gaelin discovered that his brother, the eldest who is a judge in Vienda and a member of the Pendulum Club, used his influence to ensure Gaelin was sent to Old Rose Harbor.

Once his training was done at Numbrey, Gaelin was preparing to return Vienda to retrieve his personal effects, when he received a missive from his family. They were sending a few of his things to a small house they had gotten for him in the harbor. A young servant was also being sent for him. Alara, a human girl in her early teens. Despite feeling resentful, Gaelin left for his assignment without further communication to his family.

Career and Income

Occupation

Gaelin is stationed in Old Rose Harbor with the Seventen working as an Investigator and monitoring the unpublished spells that cycle through the markets.

Income: Average

Being a fresh recruit provides more than most of what the Lessers obtain. Gaelin spends his income wisely, not attempting to flaunt a lifestyle that is above his position.

Housing and Inventory

Housing: Small Home

Gaelin lives in a smaller home than one would expect of a Galdori. There is a comfortably sized bedroom and study. But the kitchen and common area are a bit lacking. There is only one human servant to tend to the place, and their room is not much larger than a walk-in closet. All furniture, except for the master bedroom bed, is a bit basic in quality.

  • Human female servant by the name of Alara.
  • 4 Seventen uniforms
  • 1 Broadsword
